SUMMARY:Mystery Ship: The Long\, Strange Odyssey of Submarine S-49
DESCRIPTION:Author Eric Wilk presents his new book “Mystery Ship: The Long\, Strange Odyssey of Submarine S-49” \nOne of the last submarines built by the Simon Lake company and the first Navy vessel fitted with true piezoelectric SONAR\, submarine S-49 served as a United States Navy ship for five years\, testing innovative devices. Two politicians from Revere\, Massachusetts\, rescued her from the scrapyard\, and she was exhibited at the Chicago World’s Fair and in cities on the Eastern Seaboard until World War II. Navy Research fitted up the sub so that she could dive again and used her for SONAR fuze testing until one day she could no longer rise to the surface. The sub sits at the bottom of the Patuxent River in Maryland to this day. \nSigned copies will be available to purchase after the presentation.

SUMMARY:Michael S. Gordon Talk & Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, June 6 at 5pm for an evening with author Michael S. Gordon as he joins friend and moderator Lisette Valle as discuss his book\, C.E.A.S.E. for Equity: Cultivating Empathy And Sustaining Ecosystems for Equity. \nThis is a ticketed event. $55 includes the following:\n* One book\n* Q&A and book signing\n* Catered meal from Trap Chicken \nAbout the Book:\nC.E.A.S.E. for Equity isn’t about red or blue\, left or right\, or where you live – whether in the heart of a bustling city or the quiet of a rural town. It’s not about political affiliation\, geographic location\, or drawing lines between who is right and who is wrong. It’s not asking you to ignore the past but to confront it with courage and compassion. At its core\, this book is about cultivating empathy and sustaining ecosystems for equity – elements\, habitats\, interactions that support all people\, not just a privileged few. It requires you to see the humanity in every person you encounter. It encourages you to break free from narratives that divide. It challenges you to begin the long-overdue process of collective healing and liberation. \nC.E.A.S.E. for Equity invites every reader to take personal responsibility – for your choices\, your language\, and your actions. This book encourages you to contribute with the intent of reforming the social and economic structures that allow prejudice\, oppression\, exclusion\, and erasure to persist. It’s a vision rooted not in blame but in accountability\, transformation\, and love. Above all\, C.E.A.S.E. for Equity is about peace\, justice\, and a sincere concern for the human soul. It’s a call to walk and work together – not simply as acquaintances or allies\, but as accomplices seeking a more just and compassionate world for all humanity.
