DESCRIPTION:Malik Elassal is a stand-up comedian\, actor\, and writer known for his sharp\, heartfelt comedy. His Lebanese-Canadian roots bring depth and perspective to his storytelling\, earning him a spot on Vulture’s 2024 “Comedians You Should and Will Know” list. Named a New Face at JFL Montreal 2022\, he went on to tour nationally and earned viral acclaim with one of Don’t Tell Comedy’s most-watched sets\, racking up over 3.5 million views. He returned to Just For Laughs in 2023 to perform at a Gala and as a part of the “Just For The Culture” Show\, where he was a stand out. On screen\, Elassal stars in the FX/Hulu series Adults\, playing Samir\, an earnest over-thinker navigating life\, love\, and unemployment in New York City. Before this\, Malik won Top Comic in his home city of Calgary\, recorded sets for television at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and CBC’s New Wave of Standup\, and performed the titular track of the Just For Laughs originals album ‘Yeehaw Hell Yeah’. He currently resides in Brooklyn and performs regularly around the city and in clubs across the continent.

In response\, we have been active listeners and have provided support in various forms. \nTo help galvanize our voices\, we’ve launched Community Conversations\, a monthly gathering to discuss the impact of current events. Using The 1619 Project as our guide\, we will focus on the themes of each chapter to deepen our understanding of what is happening and how we can better equip ourselves during this challenging time. Where possible\, we will have subject matter experts to lead the discussions\, but we will also rely on each other’s insights.

Musical favorites include: Patriotic\, Traditional\, Classical\, Contemporary\, Jazz\, Radio Music\, and Instrumental. This is the 37th year for the Vincent Vizzo Concerts featuring a Marine Band with 34 of those years at the Klein Memorial Auditorium. \nThe sponsor of the annual concerts is the Council of Italian-American Societies of Greater Bridgeport\, Inc. The 501©3 not-for-profit educational charitable foundation is headquartered in the City of Bridgeport.
